More Bash for your Buck

Mention the word budget to any bride or groom and they will shake in their boots with visions of low cost, half hearted, backyard weddings. But this is not necessarily the case.

With the economic down turn affecting us all in varying ways, many brides are finding that a cut to the wedding budget is not only essential but, in some ways, an opportunity to get creative with alternative decorating options, homemade favors and unusual, if not quirky, reception locations.

Consider these ideas when you are shaving dollars off your wedding budget.

à Bridesmaid dresses don’t need to be identical. Consider selecting a colour and allowing your bridesmaid’s to select their own style of dress. This not only creates harmony amongst your girlfriends but it also allows for bargain finds on the sales racks.

à Instead of purchasing your table centrepiece items, consider hiring them from us for a fraction of the price. And you won’t be left with 20 or more useless items after your wedding!

Getting married in 2010 and want to know the latest trends? Here is a sample of what’s to come.

à Black is the New Black
Yes black is going to be back with a vengeance. Black rosettes, table linen, bridal party dresses and accent shoes will all make an appearance in winter 2010, giving a touch of sophistication to any wedding. Use it subtly or make a bold statement. à Pattern Passion
Patterns provide an instant room perk and can set the theme for any wedding or social occasion. In 2010, the emphasis will be on all things patterned ~ paisley, polka dot, plaid and more. Bridesmaid dresses with prints and patterns can be purchased off the rack from department stores and your wedding decor can compliment the bridal attire. à Farmyard, Vineyard, Backyard
Outdoor wedding receptions will become increasingly popular as the credit crunch eats into the bridal budget. An outdoor celebration can help to create a casual or unusual ambiance, allowing the use of mismatched china, fresh from the garden flowers and in season ingredients for delectable dining.  Team your tables with patterned linen or overlays, chair sashes and vintage vases to complete the look. The “cost” of a wedding planner is largely dependent on the size and type of your wedding.  A wedding planner can usually negotiate savings on your behalf, often resulting in a minimum 10% saving.

For example, your wedding budget is $18,000 including the cost of the wedding planner. Lets say the planner is providing a full service and they are charging you $900. The savings negotiated by the planner would be in the range of $1,800 which gives you a total saving of $900 and a wedding planner who can assist you with every aspect of your wedding.

Average Charges

Design—$100 to $400

Planning—$150 to $2000

Full Service Management—$700 to $4000

These price ranges are approximate and may be less or more after consulting with the bridal couple.  Fees will be agreed before work commences. A 20% deposit is required to confirm booking.
